Cabinet yesterday approved the Defence Ministry's proposal for a budget tied in with the next financial year worth Bt33 billion, Deputy Government Spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said yesterday. The Defence Ministry wants this money for the procurement of 16 items, worth Bt33.58 billion, of which Bt6.3 billion would come from the 2010 budget bill.
The 16 items include two helicopters worth Bt1 billion, to be bought under a special system.
Supachai said the helicopters would be used for survey and demarcation work, as well as for sending supplies to soldiers in remote areas and helping natural disaster victims.
